Where can I go biking?

With Leavenworth’s location amidst national forests and several mountain ranges, the Leavenworth Mountain Biking scene is certainly abundant in the number of varying trails that are open for exploration.

Chikamin Ridge
A great single track trail designed for experienced riders. Follows the Chiwawa River most of the way.

  • Average Time: 5 hours 
  • Difficulty: Difficult 
  • Trail Type: Single track 
  • Trailhead: Take US 2 W to WA 207 N. Turn right onto Chiwawa Loop Road, right onto CO HWY 22, 2nd left onto Chiwawa River Road, continue onto National Forest Road 62 (Meadown Creek Road), right onto Chikamin Ridge Road.

Lower Chiwawa Trail
A potentially strenuous trail with lots of up and down action. Be prepared to use your thighs and brakes.

  • Difficulty: Difficult 
  • Trail Type: Single Track 
  • Trailhead: Take US 2 W to WA 207 toward Lake Wenatchee/Fish Lake. Turn right on Chiwawa River Road, left at Meadow Creek Road (Road #62), right on Road #1600 and look for the trailhead on the opposite side of the street from Goose Creek Campground.

Freund Canyon
Lots of fun jumps, great panoramic views of Leavenworth, and good hill throughout the track. Definitely a favorite Leavenworth bike trail. 

  • Distance: 8.3 miles 
  • Average Time: 1-3 hours 
  • Difficulty: Intermediate 
  • Trail Type: Single and double track 
  • Trailhead: Take US 2 E through Leavenworth, turn left onto Chumstick Road, left onto Freund Canyon, turn left onto dirt road #7702, stay left at first fork, and left at second fork. After three miles you will reach a gate where the trailhead begins. Please be careful of private property.

Devil’s Gulch Trail
One of the most popular trails in Washington State with plenty of possibilities for an epic ride and fantastic views of the Wenatchee Valley. 

  • Distance: 24.9 miles 
  • Average Time: 4-6 hours 
  • Difficulty: Intermediate 
  • Trail Type: Single track loop 
  • Trailhead: Take US 2 E through Leavenworth past HWY 97 into Cashmere. Turn right onto Division Street in Cashmere, left on Mission Creek Road (CR 11), go right and cross over Mission Creek. Quickly veer left and after 6 miles continue onto road #7100 for 2.5 miles to the trailhead.
